How to backup favorites from TomTom in Android

TomTom sucks. This is for sure. Why? Because if you have a TomTom sat nav for Android and you want to backup your favorites – officially you won’t do this. If you are lucky and hood enough to root your Android device – your data is kept in data/data/com.tomtom.–mapname–/files/personal/pois/Favorites.ov2. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, you won’t get access to this folder without rooting your device, which will theoretically also void your device’s warranty.

In my personal case I couldn’t root my device, because my phone had a recent updates, and rooting was impossible with currently existing tools. It means I lost almost 100 favorites!!!

 

I decided to complain this situation directly in TomTom. Their letter was actually “we do not care, f*ck off, because we are not going t do anythuing”:

 

Dear Mr Rozenek,

The reference number for your query is ***********.

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support Team. My name is Nikhilesh and I am always happy to assist you with your request.

By looking at your e-mail I understand that you have transferred the TomTom application from one Android smartphone to another and after doing this you have lost all your Favourites.
 
I totally understand your frustration however I would like to inform you that we do not have such feature to backup your Favourites or transfer it along with the application.

 

However, I have taken this as a feedback and would like to thank you for your feedback. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. I will surely forward your suggestion to our Product Development Team.  

Once again, we appreciate your feedback and we look forward to implement it. Pawel, as a TomTom customer your feedbacks are very precious to us and it is the voice of our customers that makes TomTom a success.
