“Rappel” on speed limit signs in France

During my trip by car to Poland, when I was in France, under speed limit signs I noticed a lot of small plates with text: Rappel. Because I don’t know French language at all, I had no idea what it meant. I thought that maybe it was a special speed limit for lorries?

Rappel means reminder.

It means that you have formerly already been imposed this speed limit on the road you follow, that you’ve already had to respect it.
