How does it work?

With anti theft reason I never like to have a lot of electronic devices in my car. I can't imagine to drive in foreign country like (for me) UK without a satnav system. But... this could be another box in my car which must be taken out during driver's absence. Even UK isn't perfect country and here you can lose your stuff. So it was a reason that I bought MDA III:

The mobile phone cooperates with Windows Mobile and what is the most important has included GPS receiver. Personally from provided applications I use to use only Contacts Book synchronised with my PC, myself made calculator application (I can't believe that MDA doesn't give any calculator) and Tom-Tom also not included in the standard. Standard CoPilot was like for me completely useless. Sometimes I use IE browser.

After few days of using the phone I started to think about possibility of showing my position on google maps in the internet. Why? The main reason was my passion of doing something not standard with my new toy. Anything else? Yes. If I am travelling to see you, you are able to check on a screen you have to boil up water for coffee for me or not yet. If I am late my boss can check my position and be sure that I am almost at my work or... I am still sleeping in my bed. If I mount my phone permanent in my car if someone steal my car I can find it! It is a lot of possibilities!
On begin I was thinking about making my own program which shouldn't be very difficult to make but in the google I found TrackMe which fulfilled all my claims. The project has a very good support.

How you can run your own system?
First you have to install Microsoft Compact Framework 3.5 to download HERE, SQL Server Mobile 3.5 to download HERE. Then you must install not free program names GPS Gate, which will make virtual com port for communication with the TrackMe (this one is for free). Over GPRS connection TrackMe will be sending to a server (yours with PHP and MySQL or free to use TrackMe's owner) kml file. After this if you type into google maps or Google Earth kml's file link, you can see your phone/car in the internet. Simple? Simple.
